1991 in Austin for easy fixer or parts - SOLD
« on: March 30, 2005, 10:08:49 AM »
With all my bad luck lately, I've decided to sell my vx.  If no one here wants the whole deal for $1000 then I'll end up parting it out.  I will take some pics of it tonight or tomorrow and send them to those interested.

It's a 1991, black with 55K miles on it.  As for goodies; Stock Saddle bags (hard platic),Super Brace on the forks, Corbin Seat (that will need to be recovered), Super Brace, and Metzler MEZ4's with only 300 miles on them.

Now for the bad.  You'll have to trouble-shoot the brand new petcock valve (don't know why, but it's not letting fuel out of the tank), the resivour between the two cylinders needs to be replaced (due to hail damage, the front right shock needs to be swapped out (I have a NOS one to replace it), the tank has 2 dents in it from the hail and the paint around the gas latch is starting to fade (the bike has been in texas for a year now, originally from Seattle), and the exhaust on the left side refuses to go back on, just needs to be bent a bit to fit back on, and should be doable with a pipe bender or vice...the exhaust is not stock and had two D&D cans on the ends.

Feel free to email me with questions, or if you want pics.

Oh, I forgot...if you didn't notice, the bike has Progressive Suspension rear shocks (about a year old) as well as their stiffer springs.

Thanks

The exhaust was built aft I ended up buying the D&D cans.  At my previous work we had a welder that put the exhaust together for me then I took it to a local (in Seattle) ceramic coater and had them do it up.  The bike sounds WAY BETTER than stock, it no longer puts around, it's pretty loud so I start the bike in the street so that my neighbors don't get upset.

I hope somebody buys the bike intact, (and if you were closer to me I would) but if not - I'd sure like to have a crack at getting the hard bags.

I have just done more work on my VX than is needed on this one. It would be a big shame to break it.

The reservoir between the cylinders?  How much are we talking in parts here?
Between the purchase price of $1000 and shipping ($500), I'm thinking it wouldn't be over $2000 total and it's still great looking......

I gotta agree with these guys... The bike is way to pretty to part. Aside from the hideous looking pipes it is very nice looking. Ebay it if you have to.

Will the new owner part it out or get it fixed up?
