'90 VX800 for sale
« on: July 04, 2004, 10:02:02 AM »
I bought the VX 800 from a friend of mine who purchased it new in 1990. It has 18400 miles. Just put a new front tire and new front brakes when replacing the tire. It has new speedo. spark plugs and fresh oil.
I live in Ogden Utah. Ph. 801-476-3088

It's people like you that make people like me go crazy.

I bought my '91 about 5 weeks ago for $1400.  The front fork seals leaked terribly, there's a slight bend in the front wheel where someone hit a curb a little too hard, the pipes are rusty and rattle, the turn signals didn't work, and the dark grey paint on the engine and triple clamps is flaking off prematurely.  Just recently, the rear shocks started puking oil and when i checked the air filters they could nearly hold water.  Did i mention that it's black?  I hate black bikes.  However, it seemed like a decent deal on project bike i've wanted to ride for a long time.  After all, the motor and driveline are in great shape.

Now you post this beauty with shiny pipes and sparkling blue paint.  I'm not bothered seeing a nicer bike being sold for the same price as my fixer.  What bothers me is the sudden urge to see how much plane tickets are to Ogden, UT.  Then comes trying to figure out how many miles that is and how long it will take me to drive the bike home.  Oh, and DMV fees for out of state registration.  Hmmm, i can sell my bike and keep the new one without having to spend money on shocks and pipes.  Swap the stock seat for the soft one on my bike...

Oh the misery.

That sucks man. I jsut bought a black/blue bike in Costa Mesa for $2000 and had to ride it all the way to SLC for a wedding and then back home to Las Cruces. If I had seen yours I would have saved some money, a plane ticket to get to CA and allot of cold riding. Plus I love that color. Want to trade?

Just Bought James's VX.  This is without doubt probably the most pleasant person I ever spoke to.  James, I promise I will take good care of your VX.

Thanks

Within seconds of asking if that bike was still available, figuring it was either long gone or he still had it, and it's gone.  I don't think I was meant to have a VX.  That's the fourth one I "just missed" but at least I missed the others by a coupe days, not a couple hours!
Oh well, still looking.....

Craig -

Congratulations.  Sure looks like a nice bike, and it is good to know that low mileage, clean VXs are still out there.

Wasco -

Keep the faith.  One is out there with your name on it.  Good luck.

Rick

I cant wait for this baby to arrive.  This wont be the fastest bike I've ever owned by a longshot but I bet it'll provide me with miles of smiles and what more can you ask for?  isnt that what its all about?
