Don't feel like you got ripped off. The last "clean" VX on Ebay went for over $2.2k I think. Bike prices went up this year with the higher gas.
I looked at a VX before I bought mine that I could have had for $1,000. It had a big ding on the rear exhaust can (big bucks I found out later) along with other damage from a drop. It needed tires, and the guy couldn't tell me a thing about its service history. I ended up buying my '90 for $2k too, but it came from someone on this forum and already had the progressives and a corbin seat.
